Nel 1999 viene proposto un corpo di Barbie, la cui novità consiste nell’avere forme più simili a quelle dei corpi veri: le caratteristiche evidenti sono un giro vita e i fianchi più larghi e la presenza dell’ ombelico . Il corpo sarà conosciuto infatti col nome di «Belly Button», (ombelico, appunto), ma questa prima versione del corpo viene ricordata col nome di « Everflex », in quanto la parte centrale del busto è realizzata in una gomma morbida che consente a Barbie un movimento di torsione .
