In questo caso infatti l'anno è riferito al marchio depositato, non a quello di produzione nella sede della Mattel in Malesia. Quindi una Barbie che riporta, come Paese di produzione, la Malesia, è stata sicuramente prodotta dal 1986 in poi, anche se l'anno inciso risale a 20 anni prima.
