The combination of precious stones and months of the year has very ancient origins. Even in the Bible, in the book of Exodus, to the 12 tribes of Israel were associated with 12 precious stones, set on the breastplate worn by Aaron. In ancient times the link between a precious stone and the month of birth of an individual was considered important; in the Renaissance period, the use of wearing one's own stone as a good-luck charm and a sign of protection from adversity ensued. In 1912 the National Association of American Jewelers wanted to fix the stone-month pairings in a list, updated in 1952 by the Industry Council of Jewelry of America and in 2002 by the American Gem Trade Association. It is curious how the stone-month combination is substantially the same in the various countries, with some exceptions. The Birthstone collection follows the classic stone-month combination according to the already mentioned list.

L'abbinamento fra le pietre preziose e i mesi dell'anno ha origini molto antiche. Addirittura nella Bibbia, nel libro dell'Esodo, alle 12 tribù d'Israele erano associate 12 pietre preziose, incastonate sul pettorale indossato da Aronne. Anticamente veniva ritenuto importante il legame fra una pietra preziosa e il mese di nascita di un individuo; ne derivò in epoca rinascimentale l'uso di indossare la propria pietra come portafortuna e segno di protezione dalle avversità. Nel 1912 l'Associazione Nazionale dei Gioiellieri americana volle fissare gli abbinamenti pietra-mese in un elenco, aggiornato nel 1952 dall'Industry Council Jewelry of America e nel 2002 dall'American Gem Trade Association. E' curioso come l'abbinamento pietra-mese sia sostanzialmente uguale nei vari Paesi, con qualche eccezione. La Birthstone collezione segue l'abbinamento classico pietra-mese secondo l'elenco già citato.
